What is "It's My City?"

May 25, 2017

Indianapolis is our city. And it's our job, as the people who call it home, to keep it clean and beautiful. This is where the "It's My City" campaign comes into play.

It's My City is a campaign created to inspire and engage the residents of Indianapolis to make our city clean, green, and beautiful. Designed to last three years, each year has an objective aimed at reaching our overall goal.

The first year of this campaign, Clean, focuses on engaging residents to fight litter by taking to the streets, parks, and common areas to pick you trash. This year is concentrated on cleaning the city to prepare for the following year’s objective. IMC's second year is devoted to developing a Green Indianapolis, and our final year is about creating and maintaining a Beautiful Indianapolis.

And while those three goals are incredibly important to our campaign, IMC strives to move beyond and instill a sense of pride. The true reason for this campaign is for Indianapolis citizens to take pride in the way the city looks, feels, and runs. We’ll get there by making Indianapolis clean, green, and beautiful. Indianapolis is a great city, and IMC wants residents feel apart of that greatness.

As a coalition, IMC partners with the City of Indianapolis, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc., Eli Lilly and Company, and many more to make clean, green, and beautiful happen. These team members help residents and businesses alike get involved in our campaign.

Getting involved can look like anything from picking up litter on the side of the road to planting an urban garden to planning a service day for your company. It's My City is all about residents owning our collective community, Indianapolis, and making it the city we want it to be.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s get out there and show how Indianapolis is our city.
